Wyatt’s Take

  • Minneapolis faces more unrest after an ICE shooting.
  • Local leaders are stoking chaos instead of calling for order.
  • Americans want law and safety, not more riots and destruction.

Tensions are boiling over in Minneapolis after a woman was shot and killed by an ICE agent on January 7, leading to fears the city could see a repeat of the riots from 2020.

Violent clashes started quickly, with agitators throwing objects at officers and grabbing at federal agents’ weapons, and concern is mounting about more violence on the horizon.

After the incident, the city saw schools closed for the rest of the week due to safety concerns.

Political leaders like Governor Tim Walz began criticizing federal law enforcement and even spoke of deploying the National Guard, while Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey did little to urge peace.

In 2020, leaders hesitated to act, which led to billions in damages and lasting harm.

Some are saying it’s time for the federal government to step in to prevent the city from falling into chaos once again.

Senator Tom Cotton’s warning rings true:

“These rioters, if not subdued, not only will destroy the livelihoods of law-abiding citizens but will also take more innocent lives.”

President Trump has called for protecting law enforcement, saying:

“We need to stand by and protect our Law Enforcement Officers from this Radical Left Movement of Violence and Hate!”

The push now is for authorities to stop the disorder before more harm is done.

Many believe forceful and immediate action is needed to restore peace and hold criminals accountable, instead of repeating the mistakes of 2020.

Parents, neighbors, and everyday workers deserve safe streets and respect for law, not another wave of destruction.
