January 1, Trump, Walz Clash Over Minnesota Childcare Fraud

Governor Tim Walz says President Trump is using concerns about Somali immigrant fraud as a way to hurt hardworking Minnesotans. Walz responded after HHS froze all federal child care payments to Minnesota because of fraud concerns.

“While Minnesota has been combating fraud, the President has been letting fraudsters out of jail. Trump’s using an issue he doesn’t give a damn about as an excuse to hurt working Minnesotans.”

HHS Deputy Secretary Jim O’Neill said, “We have taken three direct actions against the blatant fraud that seems to be rampant in Minnesota.” Now child care payments are stopped until the state proves centers are following the rules. O’Neill demanded that centers show real proof of children, proper licenses, and clean records before any taxpayer money is released.

Some citizen journalists visited Minnesota daycares supposedly getting millions in federal payments. They reported that many of these centers showed no sign of kids and even had mistakes like a misspelled sign reading “learing.”

Reports say similar fraud is now being investigated in states including Ohio, Maine, and Pennsylvania, raising big questions on national spending oversight.

Politicians are blaming each other, but regular Americans just want their tax dollars spent right, not wasted or stolen.
