Wyatt’s Take

  • Republicans reversed more Biden regulations than any Congress since 1996.
  • Energy, cars, and banking policies got major rollbacks.
  • Families and workers could see savings and more job security.

Republicans in Congress spent 2025 overturning 22 Biden-era regulations, more than any Congress since the Congressional Review Act began.

These rules covered fossil fuels, gas-powered cars, and bank overdraft fees.

Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso said

“By reining in Biden’s heavy-handed bureaucrats, we are saving Americans $180 billion. That pencils out to over $2,000 in savings for each and every family.”

First, lawmakers blocked new rules that let states ban gas-powered cars and required only electric trucks.

Some Democrats joined Republicans, warning these rules could cost lots of jobs all over the country.

Senator Shelley Moore Capito said

“These job losses will not be confined to California, but they will be spread all across the nation.”

Next, a Biden-era ban on new coal leases in the Powder River Basin was tossed out.

This Montana-Wyoming region provides over 40% of U.S. coal, and folks fought the restrictions to keep good jobs.

Senator Steve Daines said

“The American people have rejected the left’s radical climate hysteria and removing this harmful rule will help protect our energy dominance and our national security.”

Another major move ended Biden’s rules blocking energy production in Alaska, including the huge Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Alaska’s leaders argued these bans would devastate their economy.

Representative Nick Begich stated

“When we unlock Alaska, we are strengthening America’s national security and economic posture in this generation and for generations to come.”

Finally, Republicans threw out a rule that would have capped most bank overdraft fees at $5.

Critics said the limit would stop banks from giving credit to low-income customers, possibly making them rely on expensive payday loans.

Senator Tim Scott argued

“The Biden administration’s ill-conceived rule imposing new price controls on overdraft services provided by banks and credit unions harmed the very consumers the CFPB is supposed to protect.”

With these rollbacks, Republicans claimed their moves would save Americans money and protect jobs.

Middle-class families and workers may notice the difference in their bills and local industries.
