This Thanksgiving, AAA expects a record 81.8 million Americans to travel at least 50 miles—1.6 million more than last year.

Most folks, about 73 million, will drive to their gatherings, making up 90% of travelers.

AAA also says nearly six million Americans will fly, about 2% more than last year, even with government shutdown headaches.

Bus, train, and cruise trips are also on the rise, according to AAA’s holiday outlook.

Forecasters warn of storms in the central and southeast early in Thanksgiving week, but drier skies should return by the holiday itself.

New York and California, top holiday spots, can expect dry weather on Thanksgiving Day.
