Hamas has replied to President Trump’s peace offer just hours after he issued a deadline. They say they are willing to free Israeli captives if Israel leaves Gaza, using the plan Trump put forward.

“In this context, the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter into negotiations through the mediators to discuss the details of this agreement,” Hamas stated on Telegram.

Hamas also agreed to hand over control of Gaza to an independent group of Palestinian technocrats, as long as there is consensus and support from Arab and Islamic nations.

But Hamas did not say they would give up their weapons, which was a major requirement from both Israel and America.

If true, the offer to release all hostages puts pressure on leaders to find a solution. The timing could line up with the anniversary of the October 7 terror attack two years ago, which also falls on a major Jewish holiday this year.

It is not clear if Hamas must accept every detail in Trump’s proposal to avoid the threat. The fine print of the deal still matters to both sides.
