January 1, Newborn Revived by Police Officers: CPR Saves Lifeless Baby

Published

on

Two police officers from Alexandria, Virginia, managed to revive a newborn baby born without a heartbeat. The Alexandria Police Department received a frantic 911 call from a family seeking help when the baby was unexpectedly born lifeless.

Officers Hiltz and Reilly responded to the call and found the newborn not breathing in an apartment on Executive Avenue. They swiftly took charge of the situation.

Officer Hiltz performed CPR on the baby as Officer Reilly calmed the family. After two rounds of CPR, Officer Hiltz detected a pulse, and the baby started to cry.

The infant, named Luis IV, and his mother are now back home and doing well, following a brief stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. Officer Hiltz expressed his relief, saying, “It felt amazing to hear him cry. In that moment, all the stress and fear of the situation just left me.”

The police officers also enjoyed a visit with the baby and his parents. The Mayo Clinic states that CPR is a lifesaving technique that can be used to revive someone who has stopped breathing or lost their heartbeat.

It helps maintain the flow of oxygen-rich blood to the brain and other organs until emergency medical treatment can restore a normal heart rhythm.

I think everyone should learn first aide and CPR, similar to how everyone learns to drive or to write a paragraph.
The baby needed specific help. Nearby persons had the training to know exactly how to help. They helped; the baby lived.
When my children were young, I took advanced first aid and CPR classes so I could immediately come to my child’s aide if needed, as well as being ready to come to the aide of any person needing first aid or CPR. I have never had to use my training, but having it adds to my sense of serving my community by being prepared. The fact that my husband worked in emergency response undoubtedly made me value the training.

I think GOD was watching over this baby and the two officers were HIS instruments of HIS will. Bless them all.
