January 1, Walz’s Debate Gaffe Sparks Outrage and Doubts About Competence

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz shocked viewers on Tuesday with a stunning and troubling gaffe during the CBS News Vice Presidential Debate against Senator JD Vance. When asked about his newly changed stance on banning assault weapons, Walz made an alarming statement that left many questioning his competence and judgment.

Walz stumbled through his answer, stating, “I sat in that office with those Sandy Hook parents. I’ve become friends with school shooters. I’ve seen it.” This bizarre claim sent shockwaves through the internet, with people scrambling to understand how a politician could make such a disturbing misstatement during a high-profile debate.

It’s clear Walz intended to say he had become friends with parents who lost their children in tragic school shootings, but the damage was done. Critics from across the political spectrum had a field day with the gaffe. Fox News contributor Guy Benson pointed out, “Walz saying he’s become friends with school shooters, when he meant victims, is an innocent misstatement. Repeatedly lying about his military rank, his DUI, IVF, and Hong Kong/Tiananmen Square are not innocent misstatements.”

The Media Research Center quickly labeled it an “unfortunate slip of the tongue,” but for many, this was more evidence of Walz’s unsuitability for high office. Even former President Trump weighed in, questioning if Walz is “insane,” and his War Room was quick to circulate video of the gaffe, declaring Walz “not ready for primetime.”

Further adding to the controversy, Trump national press secretary Karoline Leavitt also ridiculed Walz, painting him as incompetent. Conservative pundit John Podhoretz tried to downplay the incident, suggesting, “People will forgive his misstatement. As long as it’s true,” but the damage was already done.

Investigative journalist Andy Ngo didn’t hold back, calling it the “gaffe of the 2024 election,” while online influencer Robby Starbuck posed the question on many minds, “Umm… Does he want to explain that?”

With a track record marred by questionable statements and actions – including his need to correct past fabrications about being in China during the Tiananmen Square protests – Walz’s latest blunder adds to a growing list of reasons why many believe he’s unfit for higher office. This latest gaffe leaves plenty of Americans concerned about the future leadership grappling with such important issues.

I watched the debate and sat back and wondered if my hearing went bad. That man does not belong anywhere near a leadership of this country. VP Harris better find another man or she’s out too!

I watched the debate and he said he was friends with the shooter not once but twice during the debate. And I believe the moderators chose to ignore it!!

Walz is a complete Bozo and to top that off he is a compulsive liar. This guy is the last person we’ve ever heard of who needs to be one heartbeat away from being anywhere near more than a dog catcher. My apologies to all dog catchers everywhere. How could any sane person have chosen Walz as their VP running mate?
