January 1, VP Harris Tries to School Americans on AI, Reaps Mockery Instead [Video]

In a recent roundtable discussion, Vice President Kamala Harris took it upon herself to “educate” labor and civil rights leaders on the concept of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Her comments, however, were met with widespread ridicule.
According to Fox News, her address at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building in Washington, D.C., turned into her “latest word salad gaffe”.
Harris seemed to be explaining the acronym AI as if speaking to children, stating, “AI is kind of a fancy thing. First of all, it’s two letters. It means artificial intelligence, but ultimately what it is, is it’s about machine learning.”
Harris then ventured further into her AI explanation:
“And so, the machine is taught. And part of the issue here is what information is going into the machine that will then determine — and we can predict then, if we think about what information is going in, what then will be produced in terms of decisions and opinions that may be made through that process.”
Despite being tasked a few months ago with leading an effort to “promote responsible AI innovation,” Harris’ attempt to simplify the concept for her audience was met with a wave of mockery.
OutKick’s Clay Travis tweeted, “Kamala Harris talks to Americans like we are all in kindergarten.”
Comedian Tim Young quipped, “Kamala Harris sounds like she had a report due on AI, but absolutely didn’t read the book.”
Fox News took the opportunity to highlight Harris’ recent string of verbal blunders. Harris Faulkner of Fox expressed concern, stating, “I’m worried for her.”
In a video segment, Kayleigh McEnany drew attention to Harris’ claim that “the majority of domestic flights do not have accessible restrooms.”
McEnany responded, “Every domestic flight I’ve been on has had accessible restrooms — trust me, I change my kids in them.”
Returning to Harris’ AI explanation, Faulkner added, “And, you know, she’s counting the letters of AI and telling the rest of us that there are only two letters. I’m worried for her.”
Conservative commentator Marc Thiessen mockingly quipped, “It stands for Vice President,” with a playful jab at the VP’s acronym explanation.
Bottom Line
With President Biden’s approval rating at a lowly 41%, and Harris herself potentially running for the top spot in the future, this wave of mockery is not a good look.
However, whether her words can translate into effective action remains to be seen.

When Harris was running for the presidency herself, she was the very lowest-rated candidate in the country. This is probably, along with POC and female, one of the most important reasons Biden picked her as a running mate — she would definitely not outshine him. I expected nothing of her then, and expect the same of her now. She is fulfilling my expectations.
