January 1, Violent Crimes at Target Up By 120% This Year
It seems that 2023 is proving to be a challenging year for Target, one of America’s leading retailers. With mounting concerns over theft, safety, and merchandise choices, the store’s leadership and its once-solidified customer base appear to be on a collision course.
Brian Cornell, Target’s CEO, recently dropped a bombshell revelation during a Wednesday earnings call, laying out the startling security and theft issues the chain faces.
“Our team continues to face an unacceptable amount of retail theft and organized retail crime. Unfortunately, safety incidents associated with theft are moving in the wrong direction,” he lamented.
Such incidents haven’t just seen a slight uptick.
“During the first five months of this year, our stores saw a 120% increase in theft incidents involving violence or threats of violence,” Cornell elaborated, hinting at the potential socioeconomic forces at play.
“Multiple economic crosscurrents are putting pressure on consumers.”
It’s a concern that resonates deeply within conservative circles, which often emphasize the importance of law and order, safety, and security.
Cornell had already set the alarm bells ringing in May, discussing the retail term “shrink” — a reflection of theft and other inventory losses. His projection? A staggering over a billion-dollar loss, an uptick of more than $500 million within a fiscal year.
“Such problems are well-above the sustainable level where we expect to operate over time,” he pointed out.
But the troubles for Target don’t end with theft.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled its LGBT-themed merchandise, a move that many in the conservative community saw as a step too far, particularly with its inclusion of pro-gender transition clothing like “tuck-friendly” swimsuits.
Especially contentious was the inclusion of children’s products from brand Abprallen, known for its Satanist-inspired trinkets.
It’s not just staunch conservatives who raised eyebrows. The pushback was palpable, causing a noticeable dip in the retailer’s Q2 sales.
Cornell’s response to the controversy? A condemnation of the protestors: “I want to make it clear. We denounce violence and hate of all kinds and safety of our team and our guests is our top priority.”
But with the backlash, came some introspection, as evidenced by Christina Hennington, Target’s chief growth officer.
She acknowledged that Target needed to strike a balance, emphasizing the need for “celebration, inclusivity, and broad-based appeal.”
Bottom Line
For many of us, this story underscores the importance of traditional values, safety, and the consequences of corporate decisions that may seem out of touch with a significant portion of the American populace.
As 2023 progresses, only time will tell how Target addresses these issues and navigates the turbulent waters of contemporary American retail.

I reject violence and theft, and anything that goes with immoral, unlawful, criminal behavior. I prefer peace and a safe, nice way of living. However, if this peace and safety are threatened and attacked, we need to fight back with all the force we can. We should not tolerate this criminal behavior. Go after the darned culprits till they are out of our lives. If they loot, we shoot. That should be the principle.

Beef up security and stop all the woke crap. Go back to the good old wholesome Americanism. Get rid of the liberals in your outfit as they’ve divided America more than it’s ever been in history. Want to close your stores? Keep up your present course.

If the company chiefs had a brain between them, they could have put an area aside for their LGBT junk for adults and NOT pushed that crap on confused children. Kids have enough to deal with growing up so why make life more difficult and confusing for them. The satanic garbage was way over the top.
Target is getting what they asked for, boycotts by moral consumers and destruction from the left now that they removed what shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
Target pandered to the left then backed down on that support and is paying the price.

I stopped shopping at Target when they created the Bi-Sexual bathrooms. Target does not care about the average American, just their nitwits who make these bonehead decisions. Target hires these wingnuts and then goes wow when it explodes. We are looking at a two Trillion dollar deficit in America
and the most important thing to Target is how to appeal to minorities.
