January 1, Two police officers admit to taking, sharing photos of slain sisters at crime scene
Two London Metropolitan Police officers pled guilty to taking and sharing photos of the bodies of two murdered sisters at a crime scene.
Deniz Jaffer and Jamie Lewis admitted to taking and sharing images of Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, at a court hearing in London earlier this week.
The officers were assigned to protect the crime scene where the bodies were found in a park when they took the photos and shared them on WhatsApp. One image, sent to a colleague, had been edited to include Lewis’ face.
Both men were arrested on June 22, 2020, and suspended from duty. Judge Mark Lucraft QC adjourned sentencing until December, and the pair were released on conditional bail.
“These matters are extremely serious and you should be under no illusions when you return for sentence it is extremely likely you will receive custodial sentences, custodial sentences of some length for your conduct,” Lucraft said.
