  • BBC admits misleading edits but refuses to pay compensation
  • Resignations follow public outrage over altered coverage

President Trump said on Friday that he still plans to hit the BBC with a lawsuit, asking for up to $5 billion, even though the network apologized for misleading edits.

The BBC said it failed its own standards and admitted its editing gave a false impression, but they have not agreed to pay Trump any money.

“We’ll sue them for anywhere between a billion and $5 billion, probably sometime next week,” Trump said on Air Force One. “I think I have to do it. I mean, they’ve even admitted that they cheated. They changed the words coming out of my mouth.”

The original editing combined Trump’s statements from January 6 in a way that made it look like he was calling for violence, which was not what he actually said.

The fallout led to the resignations of the BBC’s director general and head of news after mounting criticism.

If news outlets keep twisting the truth, expect more folks to demand accountability. Working families deserve honest reporting, not stories chopped and twisted to fit big media agendas.
