Wyatt’s Take

  • Over $5 billion in possible HUD payment errors under Biden
  • Big losses include payouts for deceased and questionable recipients
  • Trump administration launches crackdowns to stop abuse

Biden’s final year saw the Department of Housing and Urban Development report more than $5 billion in potential mistakes with rental aid.

The report exposed “improper payments,” weak procedures, and big risks tied to key government housing programs.

“A massive abuse of taxpayer dollars not only occurred under President Biden’s watch, but was effectively incentivized by his administration’s failure to implement strong financial controls resulting in billions’ worth of potential improper payments,” HUD Secretary Scott Turner said in a statement on Tuesday.

Investigators found $77 million sent for 29,715 people who had already died.

Another $150 million went to almost 9,500 recipients with invalid Social Security numbers.

Payments for “excessively high rents” reached $287.6 million, impacting over 165,000 people.

HUD now says it’s tightening oversight for those getting grants and running public housing.

Since President Trump returned, big changes rolled out, including nationwide audits to stop illegal immigrants from using taxpayer-funded housing.

“No longer will illegal aliens be able to leave citizenship boxes blank or take advantage of HUD-funded housing, riding the coattails of hardworking American citizens,” Turner stated at the time.

Earlier this year HUD teamed up with Homeland Security to share information and close public housing loopholes for illegal immigrants.

“The Biden Administration prioritized illegal aliens over our own citizens, including by giving illegal aliens taxpayer-funded housing at the expense of Americans. Not anymore. The entire government will work together to identify abuse and exploitation of public benefits and make sure those in this country illegally are not receiving federal benefits or other financial incentives to stay illegally. If you are an illegal immigrant, you should leave now. The gravy train is over,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem stated.

This should never happen with our money. Let’s keep putting American citizens first and demand real accountability from D.C.
