- Public-private partnership aims to spark patriotism in all 50 states
President Trump has launched a new group, Freedom 250, leading the nationwide celebration for America’s big 250th birthday in 2026. This new group is teaming up with states, businesses, and local communities to plan events that honor the country’s history and spirit.
Keith Krach, tapped to head Freedom 250, said their goal is to “strengthen the foundation for the next 250 years of independence, opportunity, and freedom.” The group is working with federal and state partners to roll out patriotic celebrations everywhere, from the Washington Monument to local fairs.
Ambassador Monica Crowley said the organizers want to rekindle the pride from the bicentennial in 1976, promising “a massive monumental celebration that really creates that feeling of a renewal of pride and patriotism.” They’ll be kicking things off by lighting up the Washington Monument, followed by a Great American State Fair with pavilions for every state and major events highlighting American innovations and culture.
Among the additions is the Patriot Games: a sports event for one top high school athlete from each state and territory. President Trump emphasized, “there will be no men playing in women’s sports. You’re not gonna see that. You’ll see everything but that.”
The Freedom 250 website reveals even more: a freedom tour visiting all 50 states, toolkits for schools and communities, and stories of America’s history made by Hillsdale College. The goal is to engage Americans everywhere to take pride in their nation and faith.
The president pledged a truly memorable party: “We want to make it the best of all time.” The celebration is set to begin with the Washington Monument lighting up on December 31, 2025, carrying the spirit of the heartland from sea to shining sea.
