Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump thanks Marjorie Taylor Greene for her work but explains why she resigned.
  • He says her poll numbers dropped, and she faced a tough primary challenge.
  • Greene had disagreements with GOP leadership before stepping down.

President Trump responded to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s resignation on Saturday, saying he appreciated her service but pointed to political troubles as her reason for leaving.

He wrote,

“Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown, because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits.'”

Trump criticized Greene’s ties with another Republican, Tom Massie of Kentucky, saying this alliance hurt her standing. He added,

“For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD. Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie, and thank her for her service to our Country! President DJT.”

Speaking with reporters, Trump said,

“I just disagreed with her philosophy. But I think she’s a nice person.”

Once a strong supporter of Trump, Greene parted ways with GOP leaders lately, disagreeing with them on certain hot-button issues.

I find it interesting that she chose January 5th to retire. Two days after she’s fully vested for a lifetime, congressional pension.

Screw that pension, she made enough money to have a decent savings account. Love of that like the rest of us do.
