Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump calls a meeting to stop government spending from running out.
  • Both parties claim they want a deal, but time is short.
  • The White House readies for possible shutdown cuts.

Federal cash runs out Tuesday night, and the White House is bracing for a shutdown. They are already making plans to shrink government if no deal is reached in time.

President Trump will sit down with the top figures from Congress on Monday, aiming to stave off a shutdown. The meeting includes John Thune, Chuck Schumer, Mike Johnson, and Hakeem Jeffries, confirmed by sources to Just the News.

Schumer and Jeffries put out a statement about the Monday talk.

“President Trump has once again agreed to a meeting in the Oval Office,” the Democrat leaders said. “As we have repeatedly said, Democrats will meet anywhere, at any time and with anyone to negotiate a bipartisan spending agreement that meets the needs of the American people. We are resolute in our determination to avoid a government shutdown and address the Republican healthcare crisis. Time is running out.”

This talk happens after Trump canceled a sit-down with Schumer and Jeffries last week. Trump called their massive spending requests “unserious and ridiculous.” The risk of a shutdown grows as both sides scramble for an agreement.
