January 1, Trump Pardon Shakes Up Georgia Election Case
Wyatt’s Take
- President Trump gave Bob Cheeley a federal pardon for his role in the 2020 Georgia election audit.
- Cheeley says all he wanted was a fair review of the ballots in Fulton County.
- Fulton County officials still resist letting the ballots be checked.
President Trump called Georgia lawyer Bob Cheeley to tell him he would get a federal pardon connected to his part in the 2020 election audit fight.
Cheeley said, “Although I did not have any idea that a Presidential Pardon was even being considered, I want to thank President Trump for calling me and telling me that he was issuing a federal pardon for my efforts to conduct an audit of the absentee ballots of Fulton County in connection with the 2020 election.”
Cheeley was indicted in 2023 with several charges including conspiracy, false statements, and perjury, after pushing for an investigation into the Fulton County ballots.
He was one of 19 people, including Donald Trump, accused of trying to flip the election results in Georgia.
Cheeley allegedly showed legislators video evidence he claimed was proof of double and triple counting by election workers in Atlanta.
Cheeley wrote, “The only thing I ever wanted was transparency from Fulton County.”
He added, “If the county has nothing to hide, it should allow DOJ to examine these ballots. The Supreme Court and Court of Appeals of Georgia have held that Fulton must allow the ballots to be examined, yet today the County announced it would defy the DOJ request to do so!”
On Friday, Cheeley said, “Fulton County needs to stop trying to conceal the truth so that this misconduct is never repeated and Georgians can have faith in the fairness of elections. Thank you President Trump for ensuring that God’s truth keeps matching on!”
So far, the White House has not posted any statement about the pardon.
Folks in Middle America want answers, not games, when it comes to counting our votes. When counties refuse to open the books, trust goes out the window. Fairness in elections matters to everyone who works hard and plays by the rules.

Election honesty is at the heart of the American spirit. People in our towns deserve leaders who don’t shy away from the truth and fight for transparency, no matter the noise from those in power.
