Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump tells the Pentagon to renew nuclear weapons testing.
  • Calls out Russia and China for secretive nuclear programs.
  • Russia threatens to follow suit after Trump’s remarks.

President Trump announced America will restart nuclear weapons testing to keep pace with other superpowers. He says the move is needed to match Russian and Chinese capabilities.

“The United States has more Nuclear Weapons than any other country,” Trump posted online. He stated the arsenal was upgraded during his first term, and now he’s ordered tests to begin again.

“Because of the tremendous destructive power, I hated to do it… but I really had no choice. Russia is second in line, and China is a distant third, but will be even within five years,” Trump said in a video.

Trump has been warning about Russia and China’s secret testing for months. He called out both countries in an interview, saying, “Russia’s testing nuclear weapons… and China’s testing them too. You just don’t know about it.” He claims the U.S. is open about these matters, unlike other nations.

North Korea and Pakistan are also named by Trump as countries running weapons tests. After Trump’s announcement, Russian leaders threatened to review their test policies. Russian President Putin said he may consider it, and an official, Dmitry Medvedev, scoffed at Trump’s comments but admitted they could push Russia to act.

Washington’s new stance has clearly stirred the pot abroad. Middle America will watch closely as global tensions rise over these powerful weapons.
