  • Plans for action kept close to the chest—no media leaks.
  • Military and drug trafficking in focus as threats.

President Trump told CBS News that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s time in power is likely ending soon. The comments came during his first sit-down with ’60 Minutes’ in five years.

When asked directly if Maduro’s presidency is nearing its end, Trump replied

“I would say yeah. I think so, yeah.”

Reports show the U.S. has eyed targets in Venezuela used for drug trafficking, but Trump refused to confirm or deny possible military action.

Questions about whether the deployment of the USS Gerald R Ford to the Caribbean signaled stronger action were met with Trump saying

“It’s gotta be somewhere. It’s a big one.”

Trump has labeled Maduro as a cartel leader and approved CIA operations, putting a hefty bounty on the Venezuelan president.

He told the reporter

“You’re a wonderful reporter, you’re very talented, but I’m not going to tell you what I’m going to do with Venezuela, if I was gonna do it, or if I wasn’t going to do it.”
