Wyatt’s Take

  • President Trump made world leaders laugh before his UN speech began.
  • He joked about the UN’s broken escalator and teleprompter.
  • Trump criticized the UN’s lack of help with world conflicts.

President Trump got the crowd at the United Nations General Assembly laughing when he made jokes about things not working right in the building.

He called out both a broken escalator and a teleprompter that failed just as he started his speech.

“Thank you very much, I very much appreciate it,” he said as he walked onstage to applause.

“And I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter because the teleprompter is not working,” Trump quipped, drawing laughter.

He then said

“I feel very happy to be up here with you nevertheless, and that way you speak more from the heart.”

“I can only say that whoever’s operating this teleprompter is in big trouble,”

earning more laughs.

Trump got the room laughing again by sharing stories about UN mistakes during tougher moments.

He talked about ending seven wars and how, during peace talks, the UN didn’t even call to offer help.

“All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle,” he joked.

He added

“If the first lady wasn’t in great shape she would’ve fallen.”

“But she’s in great shape, we’re both in good shape.”

“We both stood,”

stirring up more laughter.

He finished with

“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.”

Throughout his talk, Trump pressed for peace and warned Europe about illegal immigration,

and called out the global climate change push as a

“con job.”

The speech mixed humor with sharp criticism, keeping the focus on American interests first.

Wyatt Matters

It’s refreshing to see a leader willing to call out broken systems and speak from the heart, especially in front of global elites who often miss the truth about real people’s lives.
