Wyatt’s Take

  • Trump ramps up military pressure on Venezuela
  • Massive U.S. deployment with special ops and aircraft
  • American forces target illegal oil and drug activity

The Trump administration sent more troops and military gear to the South Caribbean. This raised the stakes in the showdown with Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.

The U.S. moved many special operations aircraft, soldiers, and equipment into the region. At the same time, the government began seizing oil tankers carrying banned Venezuelan oil.

At a press event, Trump gave Maduro a warning.

“He can do whatever he wants.”

“We have a massive armada formed, the biggest we’ve ever had – by far the biggest we’ve ever had in South America.”

“He could do whatever he wants.”

“It’s alright.”

“Whatever he wants to do, if he wants to do something.”

“If he plays tough, it’ll be the last time he’s ever able to play tough.”

said Trump.

Reports showed that at least 10 CV-22 Osprey aircraft and a C-17 cargo plane flew to the Caribbean this week. Troops and gear were on board.

Maduro claimed the U.S. is trying to take over South America. He also accused America of breaking world laws.

U.S. troops have already carried out operations targeting drug boats, sinking several out in international waters.

In his earlier term, Trump said Maduro should step down. Now, the bounty on Maduro sits at $50 million, and the CIA is targeting his regime.

America recently seized at least two sanctioned oil tankers. Trump said the U.S. might keep the seized oil and use it for reserves.

Targeting Venezuela’s oil business ramps up the economic pressure. Oil money is what keeps Maduro in power.
