Wyatt’s Take

  • Abigail Spanberger supported social media censorship of Hunter Biden stories.
  • She labeled these reports as ‘Russian propaganda’ during a 2020 debate.
  • Her campaign used a Hunter Biden laptop letter signer in ads to push back against critics.

Just weeks before the 2020 election, Virginia Democrat Abigail Spanberger stood behind Big Tech removing news stories about Hunter Biden, calling them ‘Russian propaganda.’ She backed crackdowns on these reports after her opponent warned about dangerous censorship and political bias from companies like Facebook and Twitter.

“I think it’s absolutely appropriate that tech firms should not be pushing Russian propaganda. And when it is, they are made aware that that exists by the United States’s FBI, they have an obligation to recognize the harm that propaganda from a foreign adversary nation can pose to our elections and our election systems.”

Facebook and Twitter both limited the spread of Hunter Biden laptop stories, claiming they came from hacked materials. A letter signed by former intelligence officials added fuel to the claim the laptop was Russian disinformation—something used by the Biden campaign and echoed by Spanberger’s allies.

Spanberger ran campaign ads featuring John Sipher, a signer of the laptop letter, to counter Republican criticism of her background. Sipher strongly defended her as patriotic, saying attacks linking her to terrorism were “laughable” and “dangerous.”

He later said he was proud to have helped Biden win before saying that comment was just sarcasm. Sipher even donated to Spanberger’s 2022 campaign and praised her again this year on a political show.

Stories about the Hunter Biden laptop and Big Tech censorship continue to matter for voters worried about free speech and fair elections. The connections between politicians, intelligence operatives, and tech companies seem too cozy for comfort these days.

Stay alert and speak out. These issues aren’t just political games—they affect how the truth gets told in America.
