January 1, School Tries to Conceal Student’s Gender Preference From Parents
Emails obtained by Fox News show that a Pennsylvania middle school has tried to conceal a student’s preferred gender pronouns from their parents.
An email exchange between teachers and a counselor at the Charles F. Patton Middle School in Kennett Square reveals that the student prefers they/them pronouns.
“‘She’ is fine too, but [the student] likes ‘they/them’ the best,” the counselor wrote, adding, “if you are emailing at home, it may be best to use she/her when referring to [the student].”
Attached to the email was a copy of the American Psychological Association’s “A Guide to Supporting Trans and Gender Diverse Students.”
Another email conversation showed the counselor encourage the formation of a “club or group to focus on LGBTQ+ topics/issues.”
“Middle schoolers are NOT too young to know their sexual orientations and gender identities,” a teacher wrote. “LGBTQ-related content is age-appropriate for them.”
