January 1, Radical Virginia Dem’s FBI Raid Started Under Biden — But She Still Blames Trump

When the FBI raided the office and cannabis shop of Virginia’s second-most powerful Democrat, party leaders immediately blamed President Trump for weaponizing federal law enforcement. There’s just one problem with that story: the investigation started under Joe Biden.

Senate President Pro-Tem L. Louise Lucas, an 81-year-old Democrat who’s held power in Richmond for three decades, saw federal agents descend on her Portsmouth properties this week. Before anyone knew what the raid was about, Virginia’s top Democrats started screaming about political prosecution.

Attorney General Jay Jones — who once said he fantasized about murdering Virginia’s former Republican House Speaker — rushed to attack Trump over “failed prosecutions” of the president’s political “enemies.”

“We simply do not have sufficient information about the reported FBI activity in Portsmouth,” Jones said.

“However, several previous actions of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia have undermined public confidence in that office.”

Rep. Bobby Scott, who’s represented Lucas’ Hampton Roads district for 33 years, went even further with his conspiracy theories.

“While we await the full facts of the investigation, it must be acknowledged that this FBI raid occurs in the broader context of President Trump’s repeated abuse of the Department of Justice to target his perceived political opponents,” Scott claimed.

Virginia House Speaker Don Scott Jr., another Portsmouth Democrat and Lucas ally, piled on with more anti-Trump hysteria.

“Let’s start with this: Senator L. Louise Lucas has not been charged with anything! I am deeply concerned by today’s FBI raid,” the speaker fumed.

“Given the politicization of this administration — an FBI led by Kash Patel and a Justice Department run by President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney — I think people should take this with a grain of salt and allow the facts to come out before jumping to conclusions.”

Then the truth came out, and these Democrats looked like fools. The Associated Press, New York Times, and other establishment media outlets all confirmed the same inconvenient fact: Biden’s FBI started this investigation.

“One of the people said the investigation into Democratic Sen. L. Louise Lucas was opened during Democratic former President Joe Biden’s administration,” the AP reported, citing federal sources who spoke anonymously about the ongoing criminal probe.

Another federal official told reporters the investigation is “financial” in nature and definitely began under Biden. The New York Times said the probe involves potential “corruption and bribery” concerns.

None of these facts stopped Virginia Democrats from spinning wild theories about Trump targeting blue states.

Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell claimed Trump has “proven his intent to target the Commonwealth of Virginia” because voters chose Kamala Harris in 2024.

“Senator L. Louise Lucas is an outspoken and historic figure in Virginia politics and has not been charged with a single crime,” Surovell said.

The Fairfax County attorney accused Trump of “obliterating” Justice Department independence and claimed the president wrongly purged career prosecutors.

“Every Virginian should be very worried about the rule of law and how it will be applied in this Country and our Commonwealth,” Surovell warned.

Lucas herself jumped on the Trump-bashing bandwagon, despite the investigation starting when Democrats controlled the White House.

“Today’s actions by Federal agents are about far more than one state senator; they are about power and who is allowed to act on behalf of the people,” Lucas said in a statement.

“What we saw fits a clear pattern from this administration: when challenged, they try to intimidate and silence the voices who stand up to them.”

“I was proud to help lead [the redistricting] effort and I have never been afraid to stand up to Donald Trump or anyone else that has tried to undermine our democracy.”

Virginia’s 2024 Republican lieutenant governor nominee John Reid wasn’t buying Lucas’ victim routine.

“LOL, sure Louise,” Reid responded on social media.

“Everyone knows you’re as honest and pure-hearted as the day is long.”

Reid said blaming Trump is the “best play” in this situation because “lots of TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) zombies will believe you immediately.”

The FBI hasn’t released any information about potential charges against Lucas, who wasn’t arrested during the operation. The timing couldn’t be worse for Virginia Democrats, though.

Just 48 hours after the raid, Lucas’ redistricting scheme — which would have given Democrats an unfair advantage — collapsed in court. That judicial defeat handed Republicans a major boost in their fight to keep control of the House.

This is what elite hypocrisy looks like in real time. For years, coastal Democrats cheered when the FBI raided Trump’s home, arrested his advisors, and prosecuted anyone in his orbit. They said nobody was above the law and justice was blind. But the second one of their own powerful insiders gets investigated — by the same FBI under the same Biden administration they defended — suddenly it’s political persecution. Working Americans see through this double standard. The rules can’t apply to everyone except the people making the rules. If you did what Lucas is being investigated for, you’d already be in handcuffs. That’s the swamp we’re trying to drain.
