  • Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband co-owned a California winery that shut down after selling empty barrels to investors.
  • House Oversight Chairman James Comer says financial disclosures show massive unexplained wealth that Omar called an accounting error.
  • Federal agents raided her D.C. home over citizenship questions while critics demand accountability.

House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer says a winery co-owned by Rep. Ilhan Omar’s husband was shut down after fraud claims surfaced.

Comer told Fox News that the business sold empty barrels to investors while promising aged wine.

“I can tell you from our initial investigation of Omar and her financial disclosure form that there are multiple fronts where you could get a search warrant issued,” Comer told Trey Gowdy on Fox News’ “Sunday Night in America.”

“First of all, not only was there a huge discrepancy in the financial disclosure form, there was the winery that was the big base of her $25 million listing on her financial disclosure form. That winery has, according to the press, been shut down because of fraud.”

The winery co-owned by Omar’s husband, Tim Mynett, closed in April amid growing congressional scrutiny over the congresswoman’s finances.

The revelations come as federal investigators probe Omar’s citizenship status and whether she and her father misrepresented her age on immigration documents.

Federal agents executed a search warrant at her D.C. home earlier this month in connection with those citizenship allegations.

“There are serious public concerns about how your businesses increased so dramatically in value only a year after reporting very limited assets,” Comer wrote to Mynett in a February letter.

Omar told The Wall Street Journal in April that she and her husband have less than $100,000 combined.

The winery, eStCru, was based in California and founded in 2020. It was named one of Wine Business magazine’s “Hot Brands of 2022” before shutting down.

House Oversight Committee spokesman said the panel already referred the case to the House Ethics Committee for review.

Middle America families work hard and play by the rules. When elected officials appear to get rich quick while their businesses collapse under fraud claims, folks back home want straight answers and real accountability, not more excuses about accounting errors.
