January 1, Politico Contract Canceled by VA After Being Flagged as Too Expensive

Our Secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, Doug Collins, made a big move by cutting a pricey contract with a news company. It seems like some folks in government were spending our hard-earned taxpayer dollars on expensive subscriptions to Politico, a news outlet. Can you believe it?
Secretary Collins jumped onto social media to let everyone know he stopped the VA from spending $178,000 on Politico. He said that money should be used for things that really matter, like caring for our veterans’ health. Now that’s something we can all get behind!
Many in the government had been throwing money at Politico, but it looks like that won’t be happening anymore. The White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, also said they’re working on making sure more than $8 million of taxpayer money won’t be used to pay for these kinds of subscriptions. It’s about time American taxpayers get a break!
Politico tried to explain that they weren’t getting government handouts. They said they offer a professional subscription service called POLITICO Pro, which is used by some government agencies. But let’s be real—our government needs to focus on spending wisely, not on expensive news subscriptions.
With the VA’s budget being $369.3 billion, it’s important we make sure every dollar goes to what’s truly necessary, like taking care of our veterans who served our country!
Stay informed, stay engaged, and let’s keep holding our government accountable!
Wyatt Matters!
Taxpayer money should be used wisely, and it’s great news that the Department of Veterans Affairs has decided to stop spending a lot on news subscriptions, like the $178,000 on Politico. This decision makes sure more money is available for important things like taking care of veterans’ health. It’s important to focus on what’s necessary to truly help those who served our country.
Spending on pricey news services doesn’t seem fair when that money could be much better spent directly on veterans. The idea is to make sure funds are used in ways that really matter. Many of us agree that taking care of veterans is a top priority, and making sure they have what they need should always come first.
The efforts to cut back on spending by the government, as mentioned by the White House press secretary, are a positive step in the right direction. People work hard for their money, and they deserve to know it’s being spent carefully. By being informed and paying attention, everyone can help ensure that government priorities align with what’s actually important for the people.

If the VA budget is $369B, why do we have so many charities like Wounded Warriors, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Disabled Veterans and others collecting money to help veterans? I think a serious audit of the VA is in order where very expense is explained.
