January 1, Ohio Cracks Down on Voter Fraud by Removing Noncitizens from Rolls

Published

on

In a valiant effort to ensure the integrity of U.S. elections, Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is taking another step to purge the state’s voter rolls of hundreds of noncitizens. Following an annual audit, it was revealed that the state’s voter registry contained errors, including a significant number of non-U.S. citizens.

The audit exposed 499 individuals who were registered to vote but were not U.S. citizens. As of Thursday, those individuals are being removed from the registry, which include individuals who have confirmed their noncitizen status to the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. This information was cross-checked with the federal Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements (SAVE) database, further verifying their noncitizen status.

According to officials from LaRose’s office, these noncitizens failed to respond to notices asking them to confirm their citizenship status or cancel their registration. However, anyone who loses their registration may submit a provisional ballot, which will be counted upon proof of citizenship.

“I swore an oath to uphold the constitution of our state, and that document clearly states that only United States citizens can participate in Ohio elections,” said LaRose. “My duty is to ensure that noncitizens who haven’t yet earned citizenship in this country aren’t voting. As soon as they become citizens, I’ll be the first to congratulate them and welcome them to the franchise. Until then, the law requires us to remove ineligible registrations to prevent voter fraud.”

Ohio law stipulates that for a person to be removed from the voter rolls, they must have confirmed their noncitizen status to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles on two separate occasions, and also have updated their voter registration or voted in between the two occasions.

In May, Ohio removed 136 noncitizens from its voter rolls following an internal investigation. At that time, LaRose urged the Biden administration to release the federal SAVE data, which they did, leading to the current action.

While some may face prosecution due to improper voter registration, LaRose reminds us that not all instances are criminal. Only those cases which clearly demonstrate illegal intent will be referred for criminal prosecution.

As the audit continues and Election Day draws nearer, more purges of the voter rolls may be announced. The state has also removed almost 155,000 registrations that have been confirmed to be abandoned or inactive for at least four consecutive years.

“We need to ensure that a mistaken registration doesn’t transform into an illegal vote, while also making certain that lawfully registered citizens can participate without obstacles,” LaRose said, reaffirming his commitment to the integrity of our democratic process.

Here’s where I lost interest: “I swore an oath to UPHOLD THE CONSTITUTION (emphasis mine) of our state, …., said LaRose.”

The easiest way to prove citizenship weither natural or naturalization is a passport. Anyone can get a drivers license.

Actually, a US birth certificate or naturalization papers are easier than a Passport.
Unfortunately, you are correct that anyone can get a driver’s license, including those that are in the country illegally. It is legitimate to allow legal residents, that are not citizens, to obtain a driver’s license, but legal presence in the US should be a requirement.

How many in all states are not removed. Isn’t this the reason the Democrats in the W.H.opened he border? You know they can’t ever win fairly. The Black community is beginning o wakeup and see the Democrats have done NOTHING but keep them on the Plantation for decades. Now that they are leaving to go “right” they need new residents for that plantation Free phones. free rent, free medicals care . free housing , education etc.. ect. Free to them and then they get vote for the Democrats who bought them here for real citizens to pay for
.Do yourself a favor. Google a video of Lyndon Johnson Democrat laughing telling everyone after he started W wELFARE, how it would keep those “ni%%ers voting Democrat. for decades. Of course it also made it necessary fo the men in the house to be gone. Then start of no male influence in the kids lives Hoe is that working for you?
