January 1, O.J. Simpson a ‘Completely Free Man’ After Early Release from Parole
O.J. Simpson’s attorney says his client is now a “completely free man” after a Nevada parole board granted him early release for his 2008 armed robbery conviction.
Simpson’s lawyer, Malcolm LaVergne, said he was granted early release for good behavior. The 74-year-old was originally set for release from parole on September 29, 2022.
The former NFL star was acquitted in the 1994 murder of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson, and Ron Goldman. A California civil court later found him liable for their deaths, ordering him to pay $33.5 million to the victims’ families.
In 2008, he was convicted on armed robbery charges after leading five men, two of them armed, in a confrontation with sports collectibles dealers in Las Vegas. He was paroled in 2017.
