  • Netanyahu calls on Iranians to oppose their oppressive rulers.
  • Minorities in Iran may unite for real change.

Israel’s military struck Iran’s nuclear and military facilities, shaking up the regime’s tight grip on power. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reached out to Iranians, urging them to stand against decades of oppression.

“This is your opportunity to stand up [to the regime],” Netanyahu said after Israel targeted key military locations in Iran. He called on ordinary Iranians to make their voices heard.

Netanyahu explained the strikes aimed to stop nuclear and missile dangers coming from Iran. He argued this opens the door for everyday people and minority groups in Iran to push for new leadership.

Minority communities make up about half of Iran’s population. Some believe if these diverse groups work together, they could help topple the hardline rulers. Many of these groups, such as the Kurds and Baloch, have suffered under Iran’s heavy hand for years.

Protests have rocked Iran since the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022, after she was detained by the country’s morality police. Her death inspired widespread demonstrations despite harsh responses from the authorities.

Yigal Carmon, an expert on the region, said, “A regime change will be supported by many. The fact is that only the minorities can bring a regime change because they are militarily organized.”

Carmon also noted that Iran’s rulers have already jailed members of the Ahwazi community, fearing new unrest connected to the military conflict with Israel.

Netanyahu repeated his call: “It has never been weaker. This is your opportunity to stand up and let your voices be heard. Woman, Life, Freedom Zan, Zendegi, Azadi.” He stressed that Israel’s fight is against the regime, not regular Iranians.

“Our fight is against the murderous Islamic regime that oppresses and impoverishes you,” he told the people of Iran.

Folks in the heartland know what it’s like to want a fair chance and a say in your future. Oppressed people, like those living under strict regimes, remind us how precious our own freedoms are. When neighbors halfway across the world cry out for liberty, it’s a sober reminder that the fight for freedom is never finished.
