Wyatt’s Take

  • A Michigan judge threw out charges against Republican electors over lack of evidence.
  • Democrat prosecutors across several states keep stumbling in cases against Trump supporters.
  • The way alternate electors acted in 2020 has clear historic precedent.

A Michigan judge has dismissed charges against 2020 Republican electors, finding there was not enough evidence to prove any wrongdoing. The decision ends attempts to put 15 Republicans on trial for allegedly trying to swap Biden’s electoral votes for Trump’s.

“This is a fraud case, and we have to prove intent,” Judge Kristen Simmons said on Tuesday. “And I don’t believe there’s evidence sufficient to prove intent.”

The electors faced years in prison if convicted. Michigan’s Democrat Attorney General Dana Nessel brought the charges, but now her team is only left considering an appeal.

Prosecutors in other battleground states are facing similar setbacks. In Nevada, charges were dismissed due to the wrong court jurisdiction. In Georgia and Arizona, their cases have stalled or been sent back for more review. In Wisconsin, cases against Trump allies are still pending.

The claims about “fake electors” don’t hold legal water. Back in 1960, both Kennedy and Nixon’s supporters cast competing electoral votes during a contested result in Hawaii, and the courts eventually sided with Kennedy’s electors. The same system was followed in 2020, allowing the people’s will to be honored if courts ruled in Trump’s favor at the time.

These court rulings show that Democrats’ push to punish Republican electors for following historic norms is coming up short. Folks can see through these politically charged lawsuits as nothing but attempts to intimidate and silence political rivals.

Don’t let the political elite rewrite the truth or threaten honest Americans standing up for their beliefs. Stay alert and know where you stand.
