January 1, Major Airport Transforms into Immigrant Shelter

Published

on

Over 100 migrants are now sleeping on the floors of Boston’s Logan International Airport. As more continue to arrive, the facility is being used as a makeshift shelter. A police source confirmed this to Fox News.

In recent weeks, the number of migrants at the airport has increased. It went from just a few dozen a couple of months ago to hundreds now. A representative from MassPort commented on the situation, saying, “We continue to see migrants at the airport. They come to Logan a number of ways. They also arrive at Logan at all hours.”

A lack of staff and resources at nearby facilities exacerbates the issue. Migrants are bussed to state welcome centers during the day. But they are transported back to the airport at night. Those staying at the airport endure poor living conditions. They sleep on hard, cold floors under bright lights. Airport announcements constantly awaken them.

In November, state shelters reached their maximum capacity of 7,500 families. This led to migrants at the airport being placed on a waiting list for available shelter space. While Massachusetts does not have any laws making the state a sanctuary jurisdiction, numerous local cities do. This includes Boston.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey attempted to address the lack of room in state shelters. In May, she announced that a former prison south of Boston would be converted into a shelter. It would accommodate 400 homeless families, including 150 migrant families. However, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu’s office did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the situation.

Don’t feed them, don’t house them, don’t allow them to work, don’t allow them to go to school and they will go home on their own

It’s ok for them to stay in Texas, Arizona, any of the southern states. Heaven forbid that the northern sanctuary states get them. They shouldn’t be here in the first place. Build the damn wall.
