Anger exploded across big American cities after US officials captured Venezuela’s socialist leader, Nicolás Maduro.

“Free Pres. Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores, Now!” and “No Blood For Oil,” read the signs carried through New York’s streets.

Some folks told reporters the arrest was less about crime or democracy and more about controlling oil.

Others with family still in Venezuela worry for their safety. Marilla Moreira said she felt “so happy,” while Kenia Fernandez admitted her mom was “scared” and didn’t want her sharing videos online.

In Philadelphia, over a hundred marched by City Hall, waving signs like “No War on Venezuela” and “End U.S. Imperialism,” demanding Congress protect American say-so in decisions about war.

David Gibson reminded lawmakers, “Congress is supposed to represent the people.”

One organizer, a Venezuelan American, said simply, “We’re all here because we agree that Venezuela should have sovereignty.”

President Trump broke the news: “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi confirmed the capture and spoke on the charges, including “Narco-Terrorism Conspiracy, Cocaine Importation Conspiracy, Possession of Machineguns and Destructive Devices, and Conspiracy to Possess Machineguns and Destructive Devices against the United States.”
