Wyatt’s Take

  • Tulsi Gabbard stepped down to care for her husband battling rare bone cancer — and the left immediately turned it into a political attack
  • CNN pundits and Adam Schiff mocked her resignation within hours, showing zero compassion for a combat veteran facing a family crisis
  • Democrats and media talking heads revealed their true character — putting political spite above basic human decency

Democrats and their media allies are catching heat for their shameful response to Tulsi Gabbard’s resignation as Director of National Intelligence. The former congresswoman and combat veteran stepped down to care for her husband, Abraham, who was just diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.

Instead of showing an ounce of compassion, leftist politicians and cable news pundits immediately attacked her.

Tony Kinnett, national correspondent for The Daily Signal, didn’t mince words when he appeared on Fox & Friends Weekend.

“The social media ecosystem, a lot of the analysis and punditry sphere, is all about getting out and saying the spiciest thing as soon as the news breaks. How disgusting a lot of these individuals’ characters are revealed to be.”

Gabbard’s final day is set for June 30. In her formal resignation letter, she wrote that she is “deeply grateful” for the opportunity to serve but explained that her husband “has recently been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer.”

She made it clear: family comes first.

But CNN couldn’t resist taking cheap shots. Former Deputy DNI Beth Sanner offered hollow condolences before mocking Gabbard, saying her DNI title stood for “Do Not Invite.”

Democrats in Congress piled on too. Senator Adam Schiff of California took to social media with a vicious attack.

“While the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let’s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard’s only positive contribution to our nation’s national security is her resignation.”

Kinnett called out the hypocrisy and cruelty.

“The most principled thing you can do as a wife is to leave something behind, as a spouse in general is to leave your career behind.”

He added that the ugly response showed a “lack of character” from Gabbard’s critics.

Gabbard took office in February 2025 after a distinguished career in public service. She’s a U.S. Army Reserve officer, a combat veteran, and served multiple terms in Congress. She walked away from the Democratic Party, became an independent, and eventually joined the Republican Party.

In her resignation letter, Gabbard wrote that her husband has been her “rock” throughout their 11 years of marriage and during grueling deployments overseas. She said she “cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position.”

President Trump responded on Truth Social with the kind of decency the left seems incapable of showing.

“I have no doubt he will soon be better than ever. Tulsi has done an incredible job, and we will miss her.”

Wyatt Matters

When a woman chooses to stand by her husband during a life-threatening illness, that used to be something everyone respected. Now the left treats it like a political opportunity. Middle America sees right through it — these are the same people who lecture us about compassion and tolerance. Their vicious attacks on Gabbard at her most vulnerable moment reveal exactly who they are. This is what happens when politics becomes a religion and decency gets thrown out the window.
