January 1, Kamala Harris Faces Pivotal Role in Election Process
Vice President Kamala Harris will do something really important. She’s going to help make sure that Donald Trump officially becomes our next President. This is because she is the leader of the Senate, and it’s her job to help count the votes from the election.
Every January 6th, Congress gets together to check the results of the presidential election. This is part of American law. Harris says that doing this is a “sacred” duty, which means it’s very important to her. It’s all about making sure power moves from one president to the next, nice and peaceful. She talked about how our country’s system, called democracy, can be a little weak sometimes, so we have to protect it.
It’s rare, but other vice presidents have done this too when they lost elections. Richard Nixon did it in 1960 when he lost to John F. Kennedy. Al Gore did it in 2000 when George W. Bush won.
Even though Harris lost, she said it’s super important to follow what the voters decided. She says that accepting election results is what makes America different from places where there are kings and queens, or where one person controls everything.
Kamala Harris is proud to be part of America’s rules, even when she loses. That’s a big deal because it means she’s respecting our country’s decisions.
Everyone will look at the votes from each of the 50 states. They’ll open sealed envelopes and read out the votes. After counting all the votes, Harris will officially announce that Trump is the winner. That’s how we make sure the right person takes office and leads our great country!
Wyatt Matters!
On Monday, something really important is going to happen in Washington, D.C. The people in charge are going to count all the votes from the states, and Kamala Harris has a big role to play. Even though she lost the election, she is going to help make sure Donald Trump becomes our next president. This might seem strange to some, but it’s part of what keeps things fair and peaceful in our country. She’s showing everyone how important it is to follow the rules and respect what the voters decided.
The United States does this special thing every time there’s an election, and it’s called a peaceful transfer of power. This means that when one leader leaves and another one comes in, it happens without any fighting or trouble. Kamala Harris talks about how our country’s democracy can be a little fragile, which means it could break if we’re not careful. That’s why she thinks this job is “sacred” or very important. It’s really nice to know that even when people lose, they still respect the rules.
Doing this job isn’t completely new, either. Other leaders like Richard Nixon and Al Gore did it too when they lost in the past. They all understood that what matters most is what the people want. By counting each state’s votes on Monday, Harris is helping to prove that in America, the people get to decide who leads. It’s pretty cool that Kamala Harris is proud of being part of these important American traditions, even when she doesn’t win herself!

This country is a Constitutional Republic, NOT a Democracy where the small states get forgotten. Our country has absolutely NO mention of the word Democracy in it’s founding documents.
She made a terrible error in her short speech.

Why would she want to bring up the fact that they cheated to win 4 years ago. She wasnt about following the rules then.
