  • Democrats reject GOP attempts to end the crisis, offer no real solutions.

Speaker Mike Johnson criticized Democrats for celebrating while folks across America are dealing with trouble from the shutdown. He said Republicans are working hard to help regular people caught in the middle, but Democrats are focused on political games.

According to Johnson, Republicans are helping farmers, ranchers, and small businesses who can’t get loans or emergency money.

He pointed out that Democrats are instead doing photo shoots and social media stunts at the Capitol while refusing to negotiate.

Democratic leaders, including Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, spoke at a town hall blaming Republicans for the shutdown.

But Johnson said they had no real plan to fix anything and turned down a GOP offer to extend healthcare subsidies for a year to open the government back up.

“At some point, Democrats have to take ‘yes’ for an answer,”

Senate Majority Leader John Thune said.

“I don’t accept IOUs. I don’t accept pinky promises. That’s not the business that I’m in,”

Ocasio-Cortez told the audience at CNN.

When asked if a similar pledge from President Donald Trump would be enough, Sanders replied,

“Oh yeah, no doubt, because the president is a very honest man.”

Johnson said Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez couldn’t answer what it would actually take to end the shutdown, even though they’re leading their party.

He repeated that Democrats are hurting American families with their political games, while Republicans are serious about fixing the mess.

Senate Democrat leader Chuck Schumer said,

“Every day gets better for us.”

He added,

“It’s because we’ve thought about this long in advance, and we knew that health care would be the focal point on Sept. 30, and we prepared for it… Their whole theory was — threaten us, bamboozle us, and we would submit in a day or two.”

Johnson called Schumer out for

“bragging”

while working families struggle.

He said none of this would be happening if Republicans were in charge alone.

Folks in the heartland deserve leaders who work for them, not politicians who celebrate and play games while families suffer.

It’s time to put regular Americans first and stop the gridlock in Washington.

Wyatt Matters

When politicians put their own pride over hardworking families, communities are left to pick up the pieces. Middle America deserves leaders who care more about doing what’s right than winning headlines.
