January 1, John Rich’s New Fight Against Child Exploitation
Wyatt’s Take
- Country star John Rich launches a bold song and campaign against child predators.
- America’s kids face record levels of online exploitation, fueling calls for tougher laws.
- Bipartisan moves in Congress aim to hold tech giants responsible and protect children online.
Country music legend John Rich released “The Righteous Hunter” to rally folks against child predators and online threats to kids.
Rich said,
“There’s not enough law enforcement in the world to combat the level of problem that we’re facing in this country with child predators and traffickers. This is a song written from the parents’ perspective. I’m actually talking directly to the predator in the song, like if you think you want to come get my kid, you’re going to have to deal with me and that’s not going to go well for you.”
He penned the song after hearing disturbing comments claiming to “own your kids’ souls” and partnered with the Department of Homeland Security to empower parents.
The song’s video depicts actual trafficking situations and wraps up with a warning: “Better give your soul to Jesus while I get my gun.” It calls on people to spread the word and look out for each other.
Reports of child exploitation online have shot up, passing 36 million cases in 2023—a huge leap since 2020.
In 2024 alone, Homeland Security rescued nearly 1,800 children and arrested almost 5,000 for related crimes.
The subject has gained attention as Americans push for the release of information on figures like Jeffrey Epstein. President Trump signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act, forcing the government to share all unclassified Epstein records within 30 days.
In Congress, the Kids Online Safety Act, led by Senators Blackburn and Blumenthal, presses Big Tech to answer for exposing children to harm. Another bill, COPPA 2.0, aims to ban targeted ads at minors and cut down on tracking kids online.
Rich joined the DHS Know2Protect campaign, leading livestream events to educate parents and middle schoolers about online dangers and how to prevent them.
As a country artist, Rich has a long track record of hits and awards, from “Redneck Woman” to “Mississippi Girl,” and was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry in 2024.
This battle to protect our kids is a fight that brings Americans together, no matter where you come from.
Wyatt Matters
Every child deserves to be safe and protected, especially with the rise of online dangers. Standing up for the next generation is something hardworking Americans from every corner can get behind—and it’s a cause worth singing about.
