January 1, Jewish Kids’ Camps Face Attacks in Canada

Wyatt’s Take
- Jewish summer camps in Canada are now being singled out by anti-Israel groups.
- Accusations go beyond politics, threatening Jewish identity and community life.
- The Ontario Camps Association stands up against these targeted hate campaigns.
Anti-Israel activists have set their sights on 17 Jewish children’s camps in Canada, claiming these camps “support a genocidal state.” Their campaign targets places where kids play and learn about their faith.
Some argue that this is about ending Jewish life and culture, not just foreign policy.
“The purpose of the genocide hoax is to destroy organized Jewish life. Genocide is the ultimate crime, and therefore all actions are permitted in order to stop it.”
While Hamas summer camps teach violence overseas, Canada does not allow such programs because Hamas is a designated terrorist group there. Still, a nonprofit connected to terrorism was recently uncovered in Vancouver.
Other voices online have pointed out that these attacks use old hateful tropes to isolate Jewish people.
“Flatten the entirety of Jewish experience into Israel, couple it with a demonizing libel based on terrorist propaganda, and weaponize that in an attempt to ostracize Jews as a collective from society.”
The Ontario Camps Association (OCA) has called out this campaign, saying these efforts use “discriminatory and antisemitic” language and are designed to threaten Jewish children and delegitimize Jewish life in Canada. The group made it clear they do not judge camps by faith or politics, but by their commitment to safety and community values.
“Campaigns such as these can be a dangerous expression of the singular demonization and wholesale attempt at the delegitimization of one minority group and have no place in camp culture or elsewhere.”
The OCA stands firm in supporting all kids and defending against ugly discrimination.
Our families deserve safe spaces free of hatred. Stay informed and stand strong.
Wyatt Matters
No child should be threatened for who they are, and every family has a right to pass down its traditions in peace. This is about protecting our kids, our communities, and the values that make Middle America strong.
