January 1, Indiana Survives Nebraska Scare to Extend Nation’s Longest Winning Streak

Wyatt’s Take
- Indiana stayed perfect and kept its winning streak alive against a tough Nebraska team
- Josh Hoover and Nick Marsh delivered when it mattered most in the fourth quarter
- The Hoosiers continue to prove they belong at the top of college football
Indiana kept its perfect record and the longest active winning streak in college football alive Saturday afternoon.
The Hoosiers trailed most of the game but found a way to rally late and beat Nebraska 20-17 at Memorial Stadium. It was the kind of gritty road win that separates good teams from the ones that fall apart under pressure.
Indiana had not trailed in a game since the 2025 Big Ten Championship against Ohio State.
Quarterback Josh Hoover finished with 263 passing yards and two touchdowns, while wide receiver Nick Marsh had a standout day with 187 receiving yards and two scores of his own.
The first half was ugly for Indiana. The offense managed just 115 yards and three points on a 42-yard field goal from kicker Nico Radicic.
Nebraska took control early behind a pair of long drives, including a 10-yard touchdown run by wide receiver Nyziah Hunter that gave the Huskers a 10-3 lead.
Nebraska held the ball for more than 22 minutes in the first half and looked ready to pull away.
Indiana opened the second half with another field goal to cut the lead to 10-6, but the real drama came in the fourth quarter.
Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea broke loose for a 39-yard touchdown run that pushed the Huskers ahead 17-6.
Indiana answered immediately. Hoover connected with Marsh on a 75-yard touchdown strike on the very next play, cutting the deficit to 17-13.
Then Hoover found Marsh again, this time for a 44-yard touchdown on fourth-and-1, giving the Hoosiers their first lead of the day at 20-17.
Nebraska tried to answer but turned the ball over on downs twice in the final minutes, and Indiana held on to win.
The victory improved Curt Cignetti’s record at Indiana to 33-2 and marked the Hoosiers’ 27th straight win over unranked opponents.
Wyatt Matters
Hard work and discipline still matter in sports, and Indiana showed both on the road in a hostile stadium. Heartland fans know that kind of grit when they see it, and it’s why they keep showing up week after week.
