January 1, Illinois School District Sparks Outrage Over DEI Push

Wyatt’s Take

  • School district caught splitting kids by race for training.
  • Staff praised Charlie Kirk’s death and called him hateful names online.
  • Tax money used for pride parades and DEI programs, raising questions for families.

Illinois’ Oswego District 308 is facing heat for pushing a plan to hire staff based on diversity, making everyone take DEI lessons, and grouping students by race without telling parents. Documents showed a middle school divided kids for equity training, and a senior district leader even made offensive posts about Charlie Kirk’s death.

The plan calls for more DEI rules—like teachers leading their own training and a first-ever district-wide DEI conference. There’s even a $75,000 grant proposal to recruit new teachers who “reflect the diversity” of the local community and children.

Some say these programs just cause more division by pitting students against each other. Erika Sanzi from Defending Education said,

“Calling it a racial affinity group is just a nicer way of saying racial segregation—these equity assemblies that divide up students by their skin color are without justification, not to mention illegal.”

The blueprint also lists taxpayer spending for pride events and “privilege” activities. People are asking if these are the right priorities when students should be learning reading, writing, and history instead of being labeled and separated.

Wyatt Matters

Folks in the heartland know that dividing kids and pushing politics in classrooms won’t build the honest, hardworking future our communities need. Parents deserve a say in what’s taught and how tax dollars get spent, not more secret schemes that don’t help our children learn.

That’s the problem with those in government. They think they know better than regular citizens who work hard to get by. They put us in debt by spending our money which falls short of We the People who live a different life depending and staying within our income. They also feel what they think is the way to go because they get to make the decisions. ALL of our problems result from those who feel special and have ruined our Country. Sending money to other countries??? Not a dime should leave the US even if we have a surplus. We don’t and $37,000,000,000,000 will never be paid of especially adding trillions in more debt every year. Yet instead of having everyone who draws federal dollars supply ID to one agency which would cover others too, and those not providing it would have those funds cut. Obviously for elderly, disabled etc. someone would go to their home to check the ID. That hopefully would terminate all the illiterate mexicans here and allow us to concentrate on the worst criminals first.

An overload of bureaucrat administrators is plaguing public schools. Never was that way 40+ years ago. A prime example of govt. breeding more and more govt. at an unbelievable cost. Worthless paper schufflers doing the deeds of the Dem liberal agenda. Then you are paying them 75% of their most recent wage, along with increases until their deathbed. $ 37 trillion, mostly occurring in the last 20 years. I like you feel it impossible to pay back.
