Wyatt’s Take

  • ICE is deporting illegal immigrants convicted of violent crimes.
  • Officials say many detainees hurt children or committed assaults.
  • Conservatives credit new funding and tougher enforcement under Trump.

While activists protest against law enforcement, ICE agents continue to arrest illegal immigrants guilty of serious crimes across America. These offenders include child abusers and violent felons who slipped into communities battered by crime.

On Thursday, Homeland Security officers rounded up criminals convicted of harming minors and others facing serious assault charges. This effort is part of ICE’s mission to remove the worst offenders from American neighborhoods.

“Yesterday, our law enforcement arrested monsters who sexually abused and raped children. These are the type of sickos we are getting OUT of our neighborhoods,”

said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

Cases include Leonel Antonio Carranza Nunez, convicted of abusing a child in California, and Wilman Rodas-Argueta, from Honduras, found guilty of sexual exploitation in North Carolina. Several others faced similar charges for crimes against minors in Texas and Colorado.

McLaughlin also reported that over 435,000 illegal immigrants with criminal convictions are not in custody, with tens of thousands found guilty of murder or sexual assault. DHS’s recent updates show that only a small fraction are being held compared to the total scope.

“If you come to our country illegally and break our laws, we will hunt you down, arrest you, and remove you from our country,”

McLaughlin said.

The number in detention has surged, which aligns with President Trump’s focus on stronger immigration enforcement. About half of those awaiting deportation face charges for other crimes, not just immigration violations. Officials say that nearly 70 percent of illegal immigrants picked up by ICE during Trump’s first year have criminal records or pending charges, including some connected to terrorism.

McLaughlin highlights the new “One Big Beautiful Bill,” which gives ICE record funding to house and remove dangerous illegal aliens. She said the agency will not let violent criminals continue to victimize innocent Americans.
