  • ICE launches Operation Midway Blitz after illegal alien kills Illinois student
  • Chicago and state leaders oppose new enforcement efforts
  • Sanctuary policies let repeat offenders back on the streets

The Department of Homeland Security kicked off a major enforcement push in Illinois to deal with violent crime linked to illegal aliens, honoring Katie Abraham, a young woman tragically killed in a hit-and-run.

Katie’s father expressed heartbreak over losing not only his daughter but her future family as well.

On Monday, ICE drew a line, saying their new operation would target dangerous, repeat offenders who found sanctuary under Governor Pritzker’s policies.

According to police, the suspect in Katie’s crash was a deported illegal alien from Guatemala who used false papers and fled after slamming into a car full of college students at high speed.

The driver tried escaping to Texas before U.S. Marshals caught him, authorities reported.

Assistant DHS Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said, “DHS is launching Operation Midway Blitz in honor of Katie Abraham who was killed in Illinois by a criminal illegal alien who should have never been in our country. This operation will target the worst of the worst criminal illegal aliens in Chicago.”

The effort is meeting resistance from both Chicago’s mayor and Illinois’ governor, who called the operation ‘reckless’ and accused the Trump administration of scare tactics.

Sanctuary city politics are keeping violent offenders on the streets, with a recent case seeing another illegal alien freed after being charged with hiding a woman’s body, until ICE stepped in and made an arrest months later.

Victims’ families say the lack of cooperation from politicians has made their pain even harder to bear.

The heartland continues to pay the highest price for open border policies.

Stay alert, share with neighbors, and help keep your community strong.
