  • She gained renown for classics like Annie Hall and The Godfather.
  • Her unique fashion and strong work ethic inspired many Americans.

Diane Keaton, celebrated for roles in Annie Hall and The Godfather films, has died at 79. Her family confirmed the passing, but did not share more details.

Born in Los Angeles in 1946, Keaton won an Oscar for Annie Hall and worked often with Woody Allen. Their partnership began when she landed a Broadway role in Play It Again Sam, and she starred in other Allen films like Manhattan and Radio Days.

Keaton’s birth name was Diane Hall. She took a bold step by leaving high school for Broadway, where she was cast in Hair. She notably refused to take part in the show’s nudity, standing by her principles.

Piers Morgan wrote on X, “One of Hollywood’s greatest actresses, and a delightful lady.”

He added, “RIP Diane Keaton, 79. Oscar-winning star of Annie Hall, brilliant in The Godfather and Father of the Bride movies. One of Hollywood’s greatest actresses, and a delightful lady. Sad news.”

Keaton’s signature look—fedora, men’s shirt, tie, and slacks—became a 1970s sensation. She acted, directed, produced, and became known for her taste in home decor.

She earned another Oscar nomination for Reds and was honored with the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. She appeared in Justin Bieber’s “Ghost” music video as The Mother not long ago.

Keaton never married but adopted two children, Dexter and Duke, who survive her.

Hollywood has lost one of its brightest stars, but Diane Keaton’s spirit will live on in the heartland—her style, grit, and dedication set an example for anyone chasing a big dream.
