Wyatt’s Take

  • Division in America is growing, fueled by fear and mistrust.
  • Judging each other harshly pushes us further apart.
  • Understanding and grace are key to restoring unity and hope.

Our country feels split down the middle, with protests turning violent and lawmakers coming under threat. Each side uses these events to point fingers and paint the other as the enemy, feeding the flames of division.

Instead of seeking common ground, many of us are quick to assume the worst about people who don’t share our views. We judge before we try to understand, and it’s wearing us down.

“All I know is that my life is better when I assume that people are doing their best. It keeps me out of judgment and lets me focus on what is, and not what should or could be.”

If we start showing each other some grace, maybe we’ll see that most folks want safe neighborhoods, a fair shot at prosperity, and a voice that counts. Not every Trump voter is dangerous. Not every protester is looking for trouble.

You don’t have to agree with everyone, but we must stop dehumanizing each other. When we listen first and judge second, things begin to change—even if only a little.

“Many of them are trying to protect what they see as core American values — freedom, family, faith. That doesn’t make them dangerous. It makes them human.”

Instead of treating political rivals as lost causes, take the time to hear why they feel the way they do. We don’t need to lose friendships or family over this stuff. We’re more than what we believe at the ballot box.

If we want to heal, we need to give each other a shot. That means listening, showing respect, and stopping the blame game. The future of this country depends on it.
