The House Judiciary Committee recommends that America’s 37th president, Richard M. Nixon, be impeached and removed from office. The impeachment proceedings resulted from a series of political scandals involving the Nixon administration that came to be collectively known as Watergate.

Good morning Middle Americans, 

Here we go again. Look, we don’t want to be a wet blanket here, but let’s just say we are a little more than skeptical that the money, $1 Trillion, in the latest injection of money into the U.S. economy from the treasury department is actually going to go to the people who need it most. We’ve seen some of American’s least-needy (Kayne West) receive big loans from “we the taxpayers”. That money may never be paid back. Those were the terms of the Payroll Protection Plan, part of the massive CARES Act. The $1 Trillion is only what the Republicans are offering right now. Democrats want $3Trillion dollars. Where is this money coming from? The credit cards of your great-great-great grandchildren. 

Are you curious about Joe Biden and what he would think? So is everyone else. You have probably noticed that he’s avoided interviews like the ones President Trump keeps doing. He seems to have time for everyone, including the ever-irreverent, but highly influential Barstool Sports. Joe Biden and his campaign are clearly going in the other direction here. Hiding out. Fox News and Chris Wallace say they keep asking Biden for an interview. And he keeps rejecting them. The strategy is working for now, the question is – how long will it work? 

Checking in with a couple of other influencers, NFL legend Mike Dikta is sounding off about professional athletes who knee on the field of play. And HBO Host Jon Oliver, gets it mostly right with his take down of the Chinese Communist regime and corporate America looking the other way on the issue of 21st slavery.

Finally – today’s opinion piece focuses on “Obamagate” – which looks more and more real each day. And a lot less like a hoax.  Here’s an exercise worth trying. Remove the proper names from the documents and only use titles like “president elect”, “national security advisor”, and your perspective will likely change.

GOP to Unveil Coronavirus Aid Proposal as Time Runs Out on Jobless Benefits

(Reuters) – U.S. Senate Republicans on Monday are expected to unveil a $1 trillion coronavirus aid package hammered out with the White House, a starting point for negotiations with Democrats as unemployment benefits that have kept millions Americans afloat are set to expire.

White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows told reporters on Sunday that the plan just needed a few clarifications before Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell could unveil it on Monday afternoon.

Meadows and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said their agreement in principle with Senate Republicans would include an extension of supplemental unemployment benefits that aims to replace 70% of laid off workers’ lost wages.

On Friday, an extra $600 per week in supplemental unemployment benefits is due to expire, severing a financial lifeline for laid-off workers and a key support for consumer spending.

Biden Too Busy for Fox News Interview, 1 Week After Trump Sitdown

(Fox News) – During his interview with Chris Wallace last week, President Trump questioned whether the Democrats’ presumptive presidential nominee, Joe Biden, could handle the barrage of questioning that Wallace posed to Trump.

The answer to that question – at least for now – we may never know.

Wallace on Sunday informed viewers that the Biden campaign told Fox News he was “not available” for an interview.

“In our interview last week with President Trump, he questioned whether his Democratic opponent, Joe Biden, could handle a similar encounter,” Wallace said. “This week, we asked the Biden campaign for an interview and they said the former vice president was not available.”

He added, “We’ll keep asking every week.”

Mike Ditka Knocks Kneeling Athletes: ‘Get the Hell Out of the Country’

(The Hill) – Former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka took aim at athletes kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial injustice in a recent interview, saying, “If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country.”

Ditka, who recently became the chairman and owner of a women’s football league known as the X League, made the comment after being pressed about whether his new league would permit similar protests from players during an interview with TMZ Sports released on Sunday.

“If you can’t respect our national anthem, get the hell out of the country. That’s the way I feel. Of course, I’m old-fashioned. So, I’m only going to say what I feel,” he said.

Minnesota Couple Wears Swastika Face Coverings at Walmart

(KARE-TV) – Walmart officials have confirmed a store in Marshall, Minnesota was the scene of an incident Saturday when two individuals entered their store wearing swastika masks.

The 59-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman confronted another group of shoppers who recorded the incident on their phone. Video on social media subsequently went viral.

In the video, the swastika-wearing duo is confronted by bystanders offended by their use of imagery associated with Nazi iconography employed during WWII.

Marshall PD says they responded to the incident around noon on Saturday, on reports that the couple’s masks were causing a disturbance. 

According to Marshall PD Sergeant Jason Buysse, his department issued a notice of trespass to the two shoppers.

(The Federalist) -When former president Barack Obama told supporters last week that the Justice Department’s decision to drop the case against former White House National Security Adviser Mike Flynn is a “threat to the rule of law,” he was relying wholly on the fiction, willingly propagated for years by a pliant media, that the Russia-Trump collusion probe launched by his administration was lawful and legitimate.

But of course it wasn’t. A string of recently released documents have confirmed that the entire Russia-Trump investigation, which eventually entrapped Flynn and forced then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions to recuse himself, was an unprecedented abuse of power that amounted to an organized effort by the Obama administration to nullify the results of the 2016 presidential election. It was in effect an attempted coup.
