Wyatt’s Take

  • Republican senators push back on Biden’s mail-order abortion pill rules.
  • Mail-order abortion pills are said to ignore state pro-life laws, risking women’s health.
  • Lawmakers demand stronger safety measures and a halt to new pill approvals.

Every Republican senator except Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski signed a letter asking the Biden administration to stop allowing abortion pills by mail. They argue this move puts women at risk and ignores state laws that protect life.

Republicans said that pulling safety checks, like requiring an in-person visit, allows pills to be abused and reach underage girls.

“Abortion pills have been obtained by abusers, traffickers, and even minors.”

With thousands of pills shipped each month, senators say pro-life state laws are being undermined. The letter calls on federal agencies to review and restore safeguards on these drugs.

Senators were also critical of the recent quick approval of generic versions of the pill, saying it goes against promised safety reviews.

“The timing of this approval appears inconsistent with the comprehensive safety reassessment your agencies have prioritized.”

Republicans suggest blocking new generic abortion pills until full reviews are done. They want pharmacy dispensing bans and in-person doctor visits brought back.

Pro-life groups point out serious health risks for women, claiming that “more than one in 10 women who take mifepristone suffer a serious adverse event.”

Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of SBA Pro-Life America, stated, “Women deserve much better than mail-in chemical abortion and bleeding out in a bathroom alone.”

Senators believe swift action is needed to better protect women and unborn children across America.
