January 1, GOP Rep Slams California Dems Over LA Riots
Wyatt’s Take
- Darrell Issa calls out California Democrats for downplaying anti-ICE riots.
- Issa demands a congressional look at police response delays.
- Bigger debate grows about law and order in big cities.
California’s Darrell Issa is going after Democrat leaders over their handling of the recent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles.
He’s pushing for Congress to dig into why local cops took so long to step in, saying leaders like Mayor Bass and Governor Newsom failed to act fast.
“These are the same people that tell us, you know, Biden was fine, he was on the top of his game,” Issa said, pointing to what he calls double standards from Democrats.
He believes Democrats have been making excuses, calling the riots “mostly peaceful” when there’s real trouble on the ground that folks can see for themselves.
While Governor Newsom and Mayor Bass blame President Trump’s use of the National Guard for stirring up more chaos, Issa doesn’t buy it.
Issa says violence and property damage happened before Trump called in the troops. He explains, “When ICE agents called for police support when they were being assaulted, they hunkered down and waited two hours before police responded because police couldn’t get authority to react.”
The LAPD says it took 40 minutes to show up due to traffic, not hours, but Issa still wants answers.
He warns that if local leaders won’t protect ICE agents, the president has to step in to protect law enforcement and the public.
“Understand that we have over 10 million people who were let into this country, and tens of thousands of them are serious criminal aliens,” Issa stressed.
He’s firm that Trump’s tough stance in Los Angeles could help keep unrest from spreading to other cities like it did back in 2020.
Democrats are being called out for not using the word “insurrection” for these riots, Issa says, even though they’ve used it plenty before for other events.
He finds it odd that officials won’t call this violence what it is when law enforcement and property are under attack.
Issa says pictures and videos coming from the scene tell the real story, making it hard for anyone to spin what happened as something less serious.
Governor Newsom argues Trump’s actions are harming regular folks, claiming agents are arresting everyday workers, but the debate over who’s to blame isn’t letting up.
Wyatt Matters
When law and order break down in our cities, working families pay the price. Politicians need to defend the folks who keep us safe, not make excuses when violence erupts. Middle America knows the value of clear rules and real action—that’s what protects our communities.
