Dramatic bodycam video from Florida captures a sheriff’s deputy racing to save a young boy from a knife attack. The deputy acted fast, firing one shot to end the danger and rescue the child.

This happened near Tampa when the deputy heard a 7-year-old call for help behind a closed bedroom door. Busting in, Deputy Gonzalez found the attacker—wearing a motorcycle helmet and armor—holding a knife to the boy’s throat and choking him.

The deputy gave several warnings for the attacker to drop the knife, but he refused. After those warnings, the deputy fired a single, life-saving shot.

The suspect, 27-year-old Mario Camacho, was the child’s older brother. He later died at the hospital.

After the shot, the boy was pulled to safety. The responding officer is now on paid leave, which is common during such investigations.
