January 1, Elderly Serial Bank Robber Caught Red-Handed in Shocking Footage
A shocking video has surfaced, allegedly showing a 71-year-old serial bank robber, Bruce Edward Bell, in action. Authorities claim that the footage captures Bell robbing a bank in Sun Valley, Los Angeles, on December 21, 2023. The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released a statement detailing the incident.
In the surveillance video, the LAPD alleges that the suspect, believed to be Bell, can be seen herding two individuals who appear to be bank employees. He allegedly motions at gunpoint for one of them to go under a table before producing a bag and appearing to stuff it with money.
As the video continues, a third employee opens drawers from which the alleged suspect seems to seize cash and stow it away in the bag. The suspect then appears to get more money from a bill counter, while the employees raise their hands in the air. The alleged suspect is then seen walking out of the bank.
According to the LAPD, Bell allegedly stole more than $60,000 from the bank. Witnesses reported the alleged heist and Bell’s vehicle to the police, who subsequently “conducted a high-risk traffic stop” and discovered $64,000 and a fake black gun in Bell’s car. The LAPD says they arrested Bell and booked him in jail.
At the time of his arrest, Bell was on supervised release after spending over 40 years in the Federal Department of Corrections. He had been released in June 2021 following four previous convictions for bank robbery, the LAPD stated.
The LAPD believes that there may be other victims of robbery by Bell who have yet to be identified. They have released photographs of Bell in an effort to identify and speak with additional persons who may have been victimized. The LAPD is requesting that victims and anyone else with further information about the robbery investigation reach out to them.
Why It Matters (op-ed)
The shocking video of an elderly serial robber allegedly stealing $60,000 from a bank exposes a glaring issue in our society. It’s time we recognize the undeniable link between lenient criminal justice policies and the surge in crime.
This 71-year-old suspect was on supervised release after spending over 40 years in the Federal Department of Corrections. Clearly, our justice system is failing to protect the public from dangerous criminals.

Really? The guy just spent over 40 YEARS in prison. So, guess what his only two talents are.
He just wants to have an easy way to get back to what’s basically the only home he’s known.
