January 1, Democrats Struggle With Out-of-Touch Candidates

Democrats seem lost these days, folks. They’re scratching their heads, wondering what went wrong after Donald Trump got elected twice in the last three tries. Why are they stuck in the 20% range when it comes to popularity? What’s happened to their party?
Take a look at the folks the Left is putting forward as their “best and brightest.” They all seem to come from the same crowd – a bunch of college-educated types who aren’t really in touch with regular folks. These are the AOC-loving, self-congratulating Democratic Socialists who haven’t held real jobs and got their education thanks to their parents’ money. Most of them are white, too, and that’s who is running the Democratic show now.
Their ideas are totally out of touch with reality. It’s more about showing off their “values” than caring about their work, their community, or their safety. What really matters to them? Holding the right lawn sign, apparently.
It’s all about making noise and showing off for the Democrats these days. They’re all about pretending to resist something.
And speaking of how things are broken, let’s look at the primary process. It’s like a contest to see who can go furthest to the left. And that has thrown American politics off balance, big time.
Now, there’s a poll saying the frontrunner for New York’s Democratic mayoral primary isn’t Andrew Cuomo. Nope, it’s someone named Zohran Mamdani. Who’s he? Well, he’s this lawmaker from Queens, an open socialist, who seems out of touch with real life. His dad’s a Hollywood director, and mom’s a college professor. He’s 33 and hasn’t had a real job.
This guy wants city-run grocery stores, thinking profit is the problem with regular stores. Sounds like the old Soviet Union plan, right? And we know that didn’t work out – it led to shortages because the profit motive actually helps keep things running smoothly.
Mamdani is calling for socialism left and right. He even said the NYPD should be booted from high-crime areas – right when riots were happening in 2020!
His ideas are what you’d call “luxury beliefs,” held by the white liberals who are too out of touch with reality. Even though Mamdani isn’t white, his voters mostly are.
When asked why most of his supporters are young, white, and progressive instead of diverse, he blamed it on people not tuning in yet. But truth is, his beliefs are just not lining up with the real-life needs of most folks.
Back in 2020, Mamdani wanted to defund the police. He’s even worn a keffiyeh, criticizing Israel loudly. And now this guy is close to becoming the mayor of New York City, the biggest city in our country! That’s how far off the rails the Democratic Party has gone.
Mamdani is basically a walking symbol of all the complaints and grievances from the far left packed into one person.
Why do people like Mamdani pop up? Well, they’re churned out by lefty universities and are taking over our popular culture, education, and media.
See any difference between loud-mouthed Swedish activist Greta Thunberg and this American guy running for mayor? Me neither.

The Democratic Party seems to be losing its way, struggling to connect with everyday people. Recent choices in leadership show they are picking candidates who seem out of touch with the real world, such as those from privileged backgrounds who haven’t held jobs outside of politics or academia. These leaders, often celebrated within their own circles, focus more on trendy values and social issues instead of practical concerns like community safety and livelihoods. This disconnect may explain why the party’s popularity remains stuck at low levels.
The primary process itself has turned into a race to see who can lean furthest left. This shift in focus contributes to the imbalance we see in American politics today. Candidates like Zohran Mamdani, with no real-world work experience, are gaining traction. They propose extreme measures like city-run grocery stores and pushing the police out of high-crime areas, without considering the real-life implications for citizens who rely on those services for safety and sustainability.
These leaders often have what some call “luxury beliefs” that resonate more with young, affluent, progressive voters than with the wider, more diverse population. This may be why most of Mamdani’s supporters don’t come from varied backgrounds. The focus on idealistic social changes while ignoring practical community needs shows how far the party has drifted from connecting with the average citizen, leading to a decline in broad support.

Not too many years ago I was a staunch Democrat, but I saw the change coming. Simply put the far left wants Communism. If they expect to ever win an election again, they better find themselves because many of my Dem friends are changing party’s if nothing changes soon!

While I agree with your general indictment, it’s not necessary to claim that Dems are now all just clueless spoiled Communists, any more than it is to call all Republicans fascists. The system is a corporate duopoly. I’ve always been an Independent.
