January 1, Dem Mayor Holds Maskless Ball After Reinstating Mandate
In Louisiana, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell (D) was pictured partying maskless during an indoor Mardi Gras event over the weekend, despite recently reinstating the city’s COVID-19 mask mandate for schools and indoor public spaces.
A trove of videos recorded by a 360-degree photo booth showed Cantrell and two other women singing karaoke without masks.
Fox News reached out to Cantrell for a comment, and all of the videos and pictures from the event were deleted within an hour, according to the outlet.
“The mask guidelines and the vaccination requirement will remain in effect thru Mardi Gras,” said Beau Tidwell, a spokesperson for Cantrell.
“That has not changed and it will not change. Under the current guidelines, masks may be removed indoors while eating and drinking,” the statement continued.
“While we did not see perfect adoption of the guidelines in every instance over the weekend, we were encouraged overall by the level of masking and vigilance we saw on the parade route and at ball events.”
