January 1, Cruz and Fetterman Unite on Evil Threat
Wyatt’s Take
- Unlikely alliance forms as Cruz and Fetterman call out antisemitism after Australia’s Hanukkah massacre.
- Both senators back President Trump’s action against Iran’s nuclear threat.
- Fetterman blasts Biden’s border policies, demands values-based immigration vetting.
Senators Ted Cruz and John Fetterman put aside party lines to strongly denounce antisemitism during a rare joint interview. The show of unity followed the tragic December shooting at Bondi Beach in Australia, where 15 people were killed during a Hanukkah celebration.
Authorities say thousands had gathered for the holiday when gunfire erupted. Among the dead was a Holocaust survivor, and dozens were left injured, including two officers.
Australian officials blame “Islamic State ideology” for the attack, and the suspects, a father and son, were taken into custody.
Cruz praised Fetterman for his honesty.
“I just want to commend John Fetterman for the courage he’s served… he’s shown extraordinary courage calling out antisemitism in his own party. And he’s done so at considerable cost to himself,”
Cruz said.
Fetterman called the attack a “horrific massacre.”
“The latest manifestation of this evil, and this evil is spreading. This hatred of Israel. This hatred of Jews.”
Cruz said.
Fetterman added,
“They can’t even celebrate, you know, one of their holidays without getting gunned down and mowed and targeted.”
An Australian Muslim man, Ahmed al Ahmed, bravely wrestled a gun away from an attacker, being hailed as a hero. Israeli leaders slammed Australia’s government for not doing enough to protect Jewish communities.
Cruz pointed the finger at radical Islamic terror.
“Radical Islamic terrorism, they are at war with us,”
he said, adding there’s evidence the suspects were tied to ISIS.
The two senators found more common ground, backing President Trump’s strike against Iran’s nuclear program.
“The single most important foreign policy decision President Trump has made in the second term was the decision to bomb the Iranian nuclear facilities,”
Cruz said.
Fetterman agreed, saying he fully supported the decision.
Turning to the U.S., Fetterman condemned President Biden’s border policy as a “disaster” and urged more vetting for immigrants, saying America needs people who share our values and want to build a better future here.
Wyatt Matters
When leaders put aside political bickering and stand up to real evil, it means something for ordinary Americans. Standing against hate and defending our values is vital for keeping families and communities strong.
